JIM ROGERS : SHALE OIL : It’s Not Quite The Boom That The Press Seems To Think It Is

JIM ROGERS : "I think the reserves may not be what we thought. And some of the gas companies have reported decreases in their estimated reserves because the wells dry up pretty quickly. The same is happening with oil. The oil boom started later than the boom in shale gas. And we’re finding that those wells decline at the rate of, depending on who you believe, 38 to 69 percent in the first year. I don’t have a clue, because I've never drilled a shale oil well. But we do know that those are fairly short-lived, too. So this has been great fun, and it may last a while. But I would suspect it’s not quite the boom that the press seems to think it is. We’ll find out." - in Index Universe

Thank Goodness for Gold Correction

Kitco News asks Jim Rogers his take of current events like Deutsche Bank's new gold depository in Singapore and the two new Chinese ETPs. Rogers also talks about how India's Finance Minister Chidambaram repeatedly urges the public to stop buying gold, stating heavy gold imports hurt the Indian economy. Finally, Rogers says that the gold correction in April was necessary for gold to avoid an even worse crash. Despite the April sell-off Rogers is still purchasing gold, silver, platinum and palladium. In regards to Roubini's bearish comments on gold earlier this month, Rogers says he'll ignore those predictions.

JIM ROGERS : GOLD CORRECTION closer to a bottom

Jim Rogers when asked if the bottom is near for Gold We certainly are. There are a lot of leveraged players who are now being forced to sell. Usually when you have this kind of forced liquidation, you’re getting closer to a bottom, maybe not the final bottom, but certainly close to a bottom. I even bought a little bit [recently].
