China: Buying Less U.S. Government Bonds

The Chinese have more or less seemed to have stopped buying what they were before, their holding in U.S. Government Bonds, at least what they report is not going up very much, so that seems to have slowed down. The Japanese likewise. It is partially because they all know what I think I know, that the U.S. Dollar is a terribly flawed currency, they are trying to diversify away from the U.S. Dollar, so I think they have more or less stopped now. At least stopped increasing their positions, their ownership and more and more people are trying to move away from the U.S. Dollar.

China: What I Plan To Do

"In the 19th century, America had a horrible Civil War. We had several depressions, very little rule of law, very few human rights. And yet we became a pretty successful country in the 20th century. So China is going to have plenty of problems. What I plan to do is, when I see serious problems in China again, I hope I'm smart enough to pick up the phone and buy more China." - in Index Universe

China has water problems

China has a major water problem. The only way the China story runs into big problems is if they run out of water. They are working hard to solve it. I believe they will solve it. If you want to make a lot of money find companies that are working to fix that problem. As for their stock market, it’s getting closer to a buy. I bought a few shares on Friday. Their market is getting to the point it should be bought.

India & China & Emerging markets

Jim Rogers : India and China are not much different from the rest of the world. They have seen the selling conduct too and they are going to a rally. The world has economic problems. India and China have a lot of inflation and the governments and the central banks know of it and they are trying to do something about it. India and China may see some cool off. Commodity prices will be going up, but that is because the world has got economic problems, If the US Fed, which is the largest in the world, continues to print money, then India and China can do little; they may try their best to cool inflation, but India and China are less than one-tenth of America's central bank.

I Assure You, China's Not Going To Be Communist Ever Again

As recently as 1907 America went bankrupt. The whole thing, Washington... J.P. Morgan had to step in and bail everybody out. China is going to have that kind of problem. Will it lead to an overthrow of the government? I doubt it, but let's suppose it does. They're not going to bring back Mao Tse-Tung. They're going to be throwing out the communists. Mao Tse-Tung's not coming back, I assure you. China's not going to be communist ever again. - in The Wall Street journal

The country that I see on the rise is China

Jim Rogers : ...Yes there are going to be a lot of problems in China I assure you and there are a lots of problems in China , but the country that I see on the rise is China they are the largest creditor nation in the world they have a huge balance of trade surplus and it's getting better we are the largest debtor nation in the history of the world and it's getting worse....I do not believe any governments stats I do not believe ours I do not believe theirs I do not believe Germany , anybody ...I do not believe the politicians I do not believe the bureaucrats but I would say that China is growing dramatically , now they are trying to slow down they got an inflation problem a serious inflation and they got a property bubble in urban coastal cities and they're trying to do something about it ....

The China prosperity continues

“The China (NYSE:FXI) boom continues. The China prosperity continues. I notice it spreading. The property boom continues to spread. I see that more and more. But of course, there are those who think that it’s a property bubble, including me – at least I think there is a property bubble in coastal cities. The government is trying to pop that bubble as you know and I presume that they (will) pop the bubble. The Chinese government has enough authority and control that they can pop something if they really mean it. We’ll see.” - in Forbes Blog

China should do like Singapore to fight Inflation

Jim Rogers : Here in Singapore, they’ve allowed their currency rise to mitigate inflation. I expect the Chinese will eventually have to do the same thing.

You’re better off cutting growth in advance, than allowing inflation to get out of control. If growth drops to 3%, who cares? That’s better than letting inflation get out of control, because once it does, it’s very tough to rein in.

Then you have to incur a recession or worse to control inflation. - in www.minyanville.com

Better for China to open its currency market

Jim Rogers : I think it’s better for China to open its currency market as soon as possible. This is not 1981; this is 2011. China is a strong and independent country now, and they don’t have to worry about the currency. It would be good for China and the 1.3 billion Chinese. Everything China imports will go down in price. You have to have a convertible currency to have a strong international economy. China is doing it but I think they could do it faster. - In ChinaDigital
